Welcome Home Chris Dodd
Today, Connecticut’s senior Senator Chris Dodd will strike the colors and return to his native land, leaving the ungrateful dust of the Iowa prairie in his wake. What kind of people are they in Iowa anyway? I mean, really. Here is a guy, who dragged his out-of-shape, 62-year-old butt to that God forsaken wind scowl of a state with his wife and children in tow, put them in a school and laid open his soul - and for what?
For standing over diners in some narly coffee shop in Ames talking about ethanol or greeting about a dozen onlookers at a senior center to talk about the Bill of Rights? And half the time, Dodd had to be up early - I mean pre-6 a.m. - not his best hour to be photographed. And what thanks did Chris Dodd get at the polls? Awful.
I mean, when Joe Biden beats you, is there any greater indignity? Yes, Chris Dodd’s dream of coming in a three-way tie for third is over. I mean, at least Joe Lieberman got to New Hampshire. Must really hurt knowing you couldn’t create Dodd-mentum. The whole $13.2 million adventure, funded by the special interests in the banking and financial markets, comes to a close.
Now maybe Chris Dodd can tell us if he can manage being U.S. Senator for Connecticut for the duration of his term. He sees the big picture and it can’t be pretty. When a Republican wins the White House, he will still be laboring on the Senate floor making long-winded statements on the sanctity of the U.S. Constitution or childhood planning in Central America. If Senator Clinton wins, he is a dead man. That crack in the debate about the driver’s licenses (his shinning moment) will not be forgotten by Clinton Corp.
That’s okay. We at the Connecticut Republican Party wish you all the best in getting resettled in East Haddam. Nice there this time of year.

I just spent 20 minutes with the senator in a parking lot. He looked good, albeit a scratchy voice.
