“Speaker Amann - Your Mohel is on Line 2!”
Oh those wacky House Democrats. Leave it to them to employ a little levity on their version of “Open Mike Night at the Capitol,” during Tuesday night’s debate on criminal justice reform.
At 11:08 p.m. on Jan. 22 of the special session anyone paying close attention to the CT-N coverage of the vote on the “Three Strikes” provision of criminal justice reform proposal what Democrats really thought about when it comes to getting tough on crime. With Speaker James Amann, D-Milford, presiding, a House Democrat staffer muttered that anyone who voted for the Republican amendment would face serious harm. As the tally board began to light up in Greens and Reds, the staffer said of any ‘yes’ votes: “This requires the immediate castration of all people suspected of even thinking about (voting for) it…’’
So much for voting one’s conscience or doing the right thing for their constituents on the Democratic side of the aisle. The video tape is not conclusive as to who said it but the candidates are: Ken Sesente, far left, Democratic counsel Kosta Diamantis, near left, Speaker Amann. “Hey, you’ve all been a great audience, we will be back in February to make even bigger jerks of ourselves.”
