And what happens if Hillary and Obama are on the same ticket? A lot will depend on the vp choice. I wouldn’t plan on the Democrats not being united by November.
And on the Republican side… at some point McCain will get the religious right, but he’ll never get the paleoconservatives or the anti-illegal crowd, especially after the whole “I’ve learned my lesson. The people want the borders secured first (and amnesty second.)”
