I think the Libertarian Party filed a lawsuit over the Citizens' Election Program. Andrew Rule, the Treasurer of the Connecticut Libertarian Party, says "if someone gets a court order to suspend the program for just a week, it goes off line for this year. If you know of anyone in this position, tell him this information."

I think its clear I disagree with the Governor's position on this issue. But we don't hire Governors to write laws, we hire them to enforce laws. And the legislators in this case, Rep. Caruso looming large among them, wrote a lousy law.

I like how you blame Chris Caruso for the campaign finance law that you dislike. I noticed there was one big player you didn't mention: Governor Rell.

"By the time the special session I called for begins, that may be one of the few untouched excuses for failing to get money from lobbyists, special interests and political action committees out of elections in Connecticut.

Since the call for a special session was issued on Sept. 29, members of the General Assembly - especially the Democratic leaders in the Senate - have complained, among other things, that a bill is not ready. Democrats say that they will deal with truck safety and home heating assistance instead. Worthy though these issues are, it would be unconscionable not to take up campaign finance reform as well.

The suggestion that a bill is not ready is absurd. Not only have I had a fully drafted bill since Sept. 30, it is based on the work done by the bipartisan group that spent the summer seeking compromise between two bills passed in the House and Senate at the end of the regular legislative session."

Everyone knows that the bill would have died on the vine if Rell didn't pick it up and fight for it after the regular session ended. Why don't you hold off on pointing fingers until you get the Governor to flip on the issue?
