The Clock Is Ticking…
The clock is ticking on the 2008 edition of the Connecticut General Assembly. Members of the House and Senate are working feverishly to wrap up the ‘people’s business’ by Wednesday night. For the Republican cause, the House and Senate GOP Caucuses are pushing the “Do Something” Budget for Connecticut, compared to the “Do Nothing” Budget under consideration by the Democrats and the Governor. Look for a tough budget battle as the midnight hour looms on Wednesday.
The clock is also ticking (or not, depending on who you ask) for Sen. Obama and Sen. Clinton in the Basketball State Primaries tomorrow - North Carolina and Indiana. Sen. Clinton seems to have edged ahead of Obama in Indiana, after Sen. Clinton’s remarkable self-discovery as the working class alternative to Sen. Barack Obama. For his part, Obama has taken a principled stand against working class Americans paying less for gasoline - to whatever end that may yield him. Meanwhile, his Meet the Press appearance yesterday has people asking whether Obama is “as cool as the other side of the pillow” or “too cool to care”.
Don’t forget that ”Maverick” was the hero in Top Gun, not ”Iceman”. We like our Presidents to have fire in the belly. Just ask Fred Thompson.
Keep checking in with GOP CONNECT, the list of McCain Coordinators is growing every day. The word that John McCain is going to compete and win in Connecticut is starting to get out there.
Also, the Joe Visconti for Congress website is starting to look really good. That man looks like a Congressman.
Lastly, kudos to the caption editor at the Courant’s Sports Desk for the cherry that ran underneath the picture of the Atlanta Hawks’ Marvin Williams committing first degree assault on Celt Rajon Rondo - “MARVIN WILLIAMS SCORES A TAKEDOWN of the Celtics’ Rajon Rondo and is ejected. It was about the only fire the Hawks showed”. Hopefully that humor will make its way over to the political desk soon. Lord knows the Editoral page is already a comedy.
