Right On!!! Rell Vetoes Minimum Wage Bill
Hooray for Gov. Rell and her veto of the Minimum Wage bill. Rell announced her veto today, sending a high fastball to Speaker-in-Waiting Chris Donovan and the radical labor crowd.
“There is no doubt that families, particularly low income families, have been hurt by our strained economy,” Governor Rell said. “We all feel the pinch when buying groceries, filling up the gas tank and heating our homes. Yet we must also realize that Connecticut employers face these same financial pressures and are having an extremely difficult time making ends meet”
The Minium Wage is an anachronism and a useless government mandate that neither helps low-income workers or create jobs. In fact, it has a ripple effect the other way as employers often react to hike in the minimum wage by altering the salaries of higher paid employees.
With the economy tight, the losers ironically turn out to be the entry-level workers that proponents profess to be helping.
By more important, it sends Donovan and his crew a message – you can’t have employees, even union employees without employers.
