Action Packed Thursday

President George W. Bush addressed the nation last night regarding the economic meltdown. He painted a bleak picture of what could happen if significant action is not taken soon to address the problem:
More banks could fail, including some in your community. The stock market would drop even more, which would reduce the value of your retirement account. The value of your home could plummet. Foreclosures would rise dramatically. And if you own a business or a farm, you would find it harder and more expensive to get credit. More businesses would close their doors, and millions of Americans could lose their jobs. Even if you have good credit history, it would be more difficult for you to get the loans you need to buy a car or send your children to college. And ultimately, our country could experience a long and painful recession.
The President, as well as leaders from the House and Senate, including Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain, will assemble at the White House today to hammer out a deal.
The Connecticut Republican State Central Committee met on Tuesday evening for the monthly meeting in Milford. You can find photos from the meeting on our Photo Gallery.
Lastly, we’ve updated our links to include a few more good right-leaning blogs from the CT blogosphere – Swick Speaks and Woodstocktruth.com. In addition, in honor of Healy’s election to be ‘Chair of Chairs‘, we’ve added links to the websites of the other members of the Northeast RNC region.
