The Everyday Republican

“Don’t Blame me, Bro!”

In day two of the trauma of the America’s,  our country was again humiliated by a ranting Marxist from a banana republic who thinks of Sen. Chris Dodd as a comrade in arms.

Saturday, President Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua, went on a 50-minute rant at the meeting of Summit of the Americas, while President Barack Obama quietly listened while taking notes. Ortega, the man who matched the Somoza regime he ousted in its subjugation of its population and export of Communism to Central America, went through the classic litany of why the United States is the root of all evil.hugo

Obama’s intellectual response to the speech was “it was 50 minutes long” and “I am glad he didn’t blame me for what happened when I was three months old.”

This is a reference the failed Bay of Pigs invasion which was led by a CIA-backed group of Cuban ex-patriots.

With Obama it’s all about “me” – as if he has to wear the heavy wool shirt of American transgressions as permanent burden.  The Bay of Pigs to some Americans was a good idea, horribly executed but worth the effort.

Unlike, President Kennedy, who had the cajones to attempt to oust Fidel Castro and then owned up to it when it cratered, President Obama seems to be on a world apology tour.  Yesterday he sat there like a potted plant while both Ortega and Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner went over the litany of grievances from our efforts to stop drugs at their source to keeping a lid on Cuba.

Also during the event, Obama’s new friend, Venezuelan CEO Hugo Chavez offered our President some reading material for the flight back – a copy of a book titled  “Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent.”  Sounds like a real page-turner.

Ortega is on his second run as President of the country and give him credit, he was actually elected this time.  Sen. Dodd was a big booster of Ortega back in the day and has long been a friend of Cuba leaders.  All of this must be very comforting to Dodd.

If Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton normalize relations with Cuba without conditions, Dodd might take advantage of the open real estate market in Cuba.  I mean, there your dollar goes a long way.
