Democrats Poised to Raise Taxes

monopoly1To the surprise of few, the House Democrats in the Legislature are poised to pass a budget that will raise taxes in the billions on the most productive people and businesses in our state. The Democrats will not be cutting much of anything in the state budget and will be arguing that more is needed to take care of all those who are hurting our there – meaning anyone connected to a non-profit agency that employs a legislator.

Here is the little problem for House Speaker Chris Donovan, D-Meriden, the Senate Democrats don’t have enough votes to pass it in the upper chamber because the 24 State Senators are dumbfounded over the lack of leadership of Senate President Don Williams. D-Brooklyn.

Williams’ failure to discipline either State Sen. Tom Gaffey, D-Meriden, or State Sen. Joseph Crisco, D-Woodbridge, for their law-breaking behavior of late has led some back-benchers to grumble. That and being asked to whack taxpayers at the pump, the store and individually have some members saying, “Hey, I didn’t vote for this guy.”

Donovan continues to show how completely out-of-his-league he is by going through with the budget vote. But, hey, have at it, Republicans are waiting and eager to have a debate and vote on something.

But here is the fun part. Public sector unions and other liberal groups are canvasing and targeting certain DEMOCRATIC Senators on the budget which will raise taxes “progressively” meaning anyone who is still working for a paycheck.  The word around the campfire is that Donovan knows about a focused effort against wayward Senators. The goal is to log scores of calls to each Democrat who are thought to be holding out.

Some of the targetted Senators, we have discovered, includes: State Sen. Joan Hartley, D-Waterbury, State Sen. Gayle Slossberg, D-Milford, State Sen. Andrew McDonald, D-Stamford and State Sen. Bob Duff, D-Norwalk.

New England Health Care Union 1199 held a rally at the State Capitol that drew flies but little else.  And there have been several press conferences at local non-profits decrying the cruel actions  of Gov. Rell suggesting any budget reductions.

It isn’t going to fly with Mr. and Mrs. Connecticut. The disconnect between the Democrats and their public sector union colleagues is amazing. The voting public has seen what Hell they wrought last fall.
