Helping a Teammate
Blogging from a right-of-center ideology in Connecticut is a rare feat, to be sure, and we do our best here at TER to foster the growth of similiarly-viewed bloggers in the state. At the same time, we also remain plugged in to the national blogosphere and try to bring the best of that world into Connecticut circles. Perhaps the best-known blog nationally for such matters is the popular RedState.Â
They draw posts and commentary from some of the most influential Republicans across the country - you might remember, for example, back in the spring when the comprehensive immigration reform bill was being considered in Congress, former Senator Fred Thompson announced that he was highly skeptical of the bill at RedState. The folks there have also been strong advocates for restored fiscal discipline amongst Republicans in the House of Representatives, with posts like this. Republicans in Connecticut can learn from this sort of activism, and will benefit by participating in it. Building a national party means talking to other people across the nation.
That’s why I’ll call your attention to RedState’s fundraising drive as they seek to build RedState 3.0. They are redesigning RedState to add in new features, a more streamlined interface, and a better blogging experience for all with a special focus on inspiring political action. The success of liberals in Connecticut and across the nation in this arena - with DailyKos, MoveOn.org, and ActBlue, for example - sends a clear signal: we must compete and win in this venue to be successful in the future. So help a teammate out and make a small contribution to the good people at RedState.
